Disclosed is a surgical apparatus suitable for use in transplanting hair. The apparatus includes an elongated member (1), a dissection module (10), and an extraction module (see 701, figure 7). The dissection module is removably attachable to a first end of the elongated member and includes a tissue separating device. The extraction module is removably attachable to the first end of the elongated member. The extraction module further includes a suction port for isolating the tissue to be removed and a tissue removal instrument disposed within the suction port for removing the isolated portion of tissue.
