The present invention relates to an abutment (3 103) for dental implant systems of the kind suitable to be associated to a dental implant (1 101), wherein the abutment (3 103) comprises an inlay (2 102), and wherein the inlay (2 102) is provided at its upper part with an external profile comprising means (2c, 2d 102c, 102d) for connecting and permanently jointing the inlay (2 102) to the abutment (3 103). Further, the inlay (2 102) may be shaped such that it is completely surrounded by the abutment (3 103) in the assembled state of the dental implant system.
