A reprocessing apparatus for washing and cleaning a load comprising a reprocessing chamber, a sump, at Ieast one buffer tank, at Ieast one chemical delivery line, one or more internal connection lines, at Ieast one buffer tank valve and recirculation valve, at Ieast one fluid distribution device and dedicated fluid distribution device and/or one or more internal connection lines, at ieast one process and at Ieast one irrigation pump, at Ieast one ultrasonic transducer and a drainage system characterised by said buffer tank is supplied with fresh water and at Ieast one process chemical where buffer tank holds fresh process fluid and is further connected to at Ieast one process pump and further to at Ieast one fluid distribution device and at Ieast one irrigation pump to directly to the load, the drainage system for discharging process fluids from the reprocessing chamber or through recirculation valve back the reprocessing chamber, at least one ultrasonic transducer for ultrasonic cleaning. Apparatus arranged such that fresh process fluid is delivered into the reprocessing chamber from the buffer tank and distributed on and into the load the load while process fluid is drained from the reprocessing chamber or while drainage system is deactivated to allow for filling the reprocessing chamber for ultrasonic cleaning or recirculate fluid from the sump back into the reprocessing chamber. A method of reprocessing a load in a reprocessing apparatus, where said load includes but is not limited to medical, dental, laboratory, mortuary or veterinary instruments or equipment characterised by that during filling the reprocessing chamber for ultrasonic cleaning fresh water is mixed with process chemicals externally to said chamber in the buffer tank and delivered to said chamber through fluid distribution devices and internal connecting lines while simultaneously washing the load internally and externally, during ultrasonic cleaning preparing fresh process fluid in the buffer ta
