The invention relates to a cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical composition comprising, in a physiologically suitable medium, a carob peptide extract (Ceratonia siliqua L.) as an active agent for promoting aquaporin expression. La présente invention a également pour objet l'utilisation d'un extrait peptidique de caroube (Ceratonia siliqua L.), en tant qu'agent actif activateur de l'expression des aquaporines, dans une composition cosmétique pour améliorer l'hydratation et la fonction barrière de l'épiderme et pour stimuler la régénération cutanée. L'invention est également relative à l'utilisation de ce nouvel agent actif pour la réalisation d'une composition pharmaceutique, et notamment dermatologique, destinée à réguler et/ou stimuler l'activité des aquaporines.
