PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultivation apparatus and a cultivation method, which can stably produce high quality plants at low cost and efficiently.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a cultivation device and method for cultivating plants in a closed space provided with growing devices 3 to 6, illuminators 13, and air conditioners 7 to 10. The cultivation is carried out under a condition of a cultivation period of at least 72 hours from germination with a 24-hour light period. The ratio Wb/Wa between the total cooling capacity (Wb) of all the air conditioners 7 to 10 and the total consumption (Wa) of all the illuminators 13 is 1 or greater and 5 or less.
