PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image diagnosis supporting instrument which can automatically extract mesothelioma and fibrosing of lungs due to asbestos from breast CT image data as a primary examination of the asbestos-related lung disease and the mesothelioma, and can show analytic data to a medical examiner.
SOLUTION: The medical image diagnosis supporting instrument reads a medical image showing the breast tissue of a subject (S1), extracts a pleural plaque candidate from the medical image (S2), extracts a fibrosing area of a pulmonary field from the medical image (S3), and generates a three-dimensional image of the extracted plaque image area (S4). The instrument also lessen burden imposed on a doctor and prevents a wrong diagnosis (overlooking of crises of the asbestos-related lung disease and mesothelioma) by measuring the distribution of strength by the pulmonary field by numerizing the fibrosing of the extracted pulmonary field (S5), and displays the obtained plaque three-dimensional image of the plaque and the distribution of intensity of fibrosing of the pulmonary field (S6).
