A dentifrice composition is described comprising a carboxylic acid or alkali metal salt thereof, a source of free fluoride ions and optionally a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether with maleic anhydride or acid. Importantly the dentifrice composition is mildly acidic, having a slurry pH in the range greater than 5.0 to less than 6.5. The composition enhances fluoride uptake into teeth and provides protection against acidic challenges.L'invention concerne une composition de dentifrice comprenant un acide carboxylique ou un sel métallique alcalin de celui-ci, une source d'ions fluorure libres et éventuellement un copolymère d'éther méthylvinylique avec de l'anhydride maléique ou de l'acide. Notamment, la composition de dentifrice est légèrement acide, avec un pH de suspension dans la plage supérieure à 5,0, inférieure à 6,5. La composition améliore l'absorption de fluorure dans les dents et fournit une protection contre des agressions acides.
