The invention provides a formulation for the prevention and treatmett of bacterial infections by administering an effective amount of the composition comprising an extract of at least one plant selected from Allium salivum, Acorus calamus, Alstonia scholaris, Carissa spinarum, Cissumpelos pareria, Chenopodium ambrosioides, Moringa otifera, Paederia foetida, Shorea robusta, Piper nigrum, Pueraria tuberosa, Ocimum sanctum, Terminalia bellirica, Tinospora cordifolia and Zingiber officinale, and a combination thereof. The invention also provides a process for preparing and method of using the same.
