R-P88 is used for the treatment of disorders amenable to treatment with an atypical antipsychotic. R-P88 is the R isomer of the iloperidone metabolite 1-(4-{ 3-[4-(6-Fluoro-benzo[d]isoxazol-3-yl)-piperidin-1-yl]-propoxy} -3-methoxy-phenyl)-ethanol. Examples of the psychiatric disorders that can be treated are: schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, (mania and/or depression), depression, major depression, psychotic episodes, autism, autism spectrum disorder, fragile X syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder. R-P88 can be administered at lower doses or less frequently than the S isomer or iloperidone, and administration of R-P88 may result in a lower concentration of another iloperidone metabolite that is thought to cause orthostatic hypotension.
