Provided is a crystal of 1-(4-methoxybutyl)-N-(2- methylpropyl)-N-[(3S,5R)-5-(morpholin-4-ylcarbonyl)-piperidin-3-yl]-1H-benzimida zole-2-carboxamide hydrochloride, which has excellent renin-inhibiting activity and is useful as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for hypertension and various organ dysfunctions caused by hypertension. The crystal of 1-(4-methoxybutyl)-N-(2-methylpropyl)-N-[(3S,5R)-5-(morpholin-4-ylcarbonyl)-piperidin-3-yl]-1H-benzimida zole-2-carboxamide hydrochloride has a powder X-ray diffraction pattern wherein the characteristic peaks appear near lattice interplanar spacing (d) of 26.43 ± 0.2、7.62 ± 0.2 and 4.32 ± 0.2.本發明提供1-(4-甲氧基丁基)-N-(2-甲基丙基)-N-[(3S,5R)-5-(嗎啉-4-基羰基)哌啶-3-基]-1H-苯并咪唑-2-甲醯胺鹽酸鹽之結晶，其具有優異的腎素(renin)抑制活性，可做為高血壓及由高血壓引起之各種器官障礙等之預防或治療劑。該1-(4-甲氧基丁基)-N-(2-甲基丙基)-N-[(3S,5R)-5-(嗎啉-4-基羰基)哌啶-3-基]-1H-苯并咪唑-2-甲醯胺鹽酸鹽之結晶所具有之粉末X光繞射圖譜中，在粉末X光繞射之格子面間隔為26.43±0.2、7.62±0.2及4.32±0.2埃()附近出現特徵性尖峰。
