PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical material which shows antibiotic properties and is transparent and a method of manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION: The medical material contains a silicone component containing polymer (A) obtained by polymerizing a monomer composition containing at least one silicone monomer having a hydroxy group and chitosan (B) having a molecular weight of 200-800. In the method of manufacturing the medical material, a molded body consisting of the silicone component containing polymer (A) is immersed in a solution containing the chitosan (B) after the molded body is immersed in a solution containing polyacrylic acid.
