PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target for neutron generation, including a lithium layer, in which performance thereof is not deteriorated even after a long period of use and separation of the lithium layer is suppressed.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a target for neutron generation, which is formed by coating a palladium layer and a lithium layer on a substrate and generates neutrons by irradiating the surface of the lithium layer with charged particles. The target for neutron generation is characterized by including, between the palladium layer and the lithium layer, a barrier layer made of a metal which does not form an eutectic alloy with palladium nor with lithium.
