PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anvil assembly which is suitable for use with a circular anastomosis stapler.SOLUTION: An anvil assembly 10 includes a center rod assembly 14, a head assembly 12 pivotally secured to the center rod assembly from an operative position to a tilted position, and a sleeve member 15 slidably disposed about the center rod assembly.
