The present invention is related to a use of Adipokinetic hormone/Red pigment- concentrating hormone (AKH/RPCH) family of peptides. The current invention particularly relates to Adipokinetic hormone/Red pigment-concentrating hormone (AKH/RPCH) family of peptides for use in the treatment of an illness selected from the group consisting of psychiatric illness like depression, anxiety, stress disorders and locomotor disorders in human and pet animals. Among the stress disorders being one of the psychiatric diseases, posttraumatic stress disorders are particularly preferred.
