Disclosed herein are methods and compositions for enhancing an immune response to a solid tumor in a subject. In some embodiments, the method comprises the steps of: (a) administering to a subject a hypoxia-activated raw reducing agent (HABA)； (b) inducing hypoxia by (i) administering a hypoxia inducer to the subject, or (ii) embolizing one or more blood vessels supplied to the solid tumor； (B), or after step (b), in an amount effective to enhance the immune response to solid tumors, as compared to the immune response in the absence of an immunological checkpoint inhibitor, And administering an immune checkpoint inhibitor.
