Cosmetic compositions comprising a fibrous pigment having an average diameter greater than 0.2 microns and an average aspect ratio greater than 5, and methods of using said compositions for imparting a pigmented film on skin or imparting a lightening appearance of skin are provided. The compositions optionally comprise from 0.1 to 30% of a coloring agent, selected from pigments, lakes, and dyes. The appearance of skin to which the compositions have been topically applied as a cosmetic film possesses L*, a*, and b* color space values and angular reflection properties closer to those of natural skin than an identical composition wherein the fibrous pigment has an average aspect ratio of less than 5.本發明提供一種包含纖維性色素(平均直徑大於0.2微米及平均寬高比大於5)之化妝品組合物，及使用該組合物賦予皮膚含有色素薄膜或淡化皮膚外觀之方法。該組合物視需要包含0.1至30%選自色素、色澱及染料之著色劑。以化妝薄膜形式局部塗抹該組合物至皮膚上之外觀具有比其中纖維性色素平均寬高比小於5之相同組合物更接近於自然皮膚之L*、a*及b*色彩空間值及角度反射性質。
