PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel human antibodies for use in the safe and effective treatment of tumors, virus infections and other diseases and conditions associated with CXC chemokine receptor 4 positive (CXCR4+) cells such as inflammatory or immune disorders.SOLUTION: The invention provides an isolated antibody that binds to CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) and does not induce significant apoptosis of CXCR4-expressing cells. In certain embodiments, the antibody is capable of inhibiting binding of a ligand to CXCR4, or inhibiting ligand-induced migration of CXCR4-expressing cells, or inhibiting ligand-induced calcium flux in CXCR4-expressing cells.
