An electronic cigarette ("e-Cig") according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a controller that provides various operations within an e-Cig. The improvement of the controller can provide improved operation and control of the e-Cig of consumer devices such as smart phones. The application of the smart phone can be developed not only for the improvement of e-Cig control and operation but also for using data communicated from e-Cig. Applications can be developed to compile / analyze data from smoking characteristics, monitoring activity, adjusting settings, receiving product notifications, and e-Cig.
