PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric having a good texture and excellent in leak proof property and optical transparency and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: The nonwoven fabric comprises a polyolefin such as polypropylene as a main component and is configured by including a fiber assembly which comprises fibers containing a silicone compound and having an average fiber diameter of 1.5 μm or less. The content of the silicone compound is 0.5 mass% or more and 10 mass% or less with respect to the fiber assembly. It is preferable that the nonwoven fabric is a melt-blown nonwoven fabric. In an absorbent article which includes an absorber and a back sheet arranged on a non-skin-facing surface side of the absorber, the nonwoven fabric can be used suitably as the back sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: None
