The present invention relates to a biomarker of mature pancreatic beta cell and to a method for using the same. Transgenic animals knocked out of a Prmt1 gene of the present invention can be used as a model for type 2 diabetes, and may be useful for the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the development of a therapeutic agent for diabetes mellitus. In addition, the composition for distinguishing mature pancreatic beta cells using the Prmt1 gene/protein of the present invention can distinguish mature pancreas from immature pancreas or beta cells of the pancreas in which the differentiation has progressed, and by using the composition, it is possible to screen substances for promoting the regeneration of the pancreatic beta cells, for promoting differentiation, for promoting differentiation, or for promoting the regeneration of the pancreatic beta cells, and candidate substances screened here may be useful for the development of therapeutic agents for the type 2 diabetes.본 발명은 성숙 췌장 베타 세포의 바이오마커 및 이를 사용하는 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 Prmt1 유전자를 넉아웃한 형질전환 동물은 제2형 당뇨병의 모델로 이용될 수 있어 제2형 당뇨병의 발병기전 연구 및 당뇨병 치료제 개발에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 Prmt1 유전자/단백질을 이용한 성숙 췌장 베타 세포 구별용 조성물은 성숙한 췌장과 미성숙한 췌장 또는 역분화가 진행된 췌장의 베타 세포를 구별할 수 있고, 이를 이용하여 췌장 베타 세포의 분화 역분화 예방용, 분화 촉진용, 또는 역분화된 췌장 베타 세포의 재분화 촉진용 물질을 스크리닝할 수 있으며, 여기서 스크리닝된 후보물질은 제2형 당뇨병의 치료제 개발에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
