PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new concentric, functionally gradient material for living bodies which is excellent in mechanical strength and biological responsiveness.

SOLUTION: The concentric, functionally gradient material for living bodies includes a central part, an intermediate layer, and a surface layer part in the diameter direction. The central part is made of a material of high mechanical strength. The surface layer part is made of a material of high biocompatibility. The intermediate layer is a layer made by mixing a material of high mechanical strength and a material of high biocompatibility. The concentric, functionally gradient material for living bodies which comprises at least three layers having gradient compositions in which the material of high biocompatibility is contained more toward the surface layer in terms of a ratio of mixture of the material of high mechanical strength and the material of high biocompatibility is excellent in the mechanical strength such as bending strength and Youngs modulus and is also excellent in biological responsiveness since a break of bones and reconstitution of new bones occur actively when the concentric, functionally gradient material for living bodies is used as a bone filling material. Consequently, the concentric, functionally gradient material for living bodies is very useful as a biomaterial such as the bone filling material, an artificial dental root, or dental cement.
