In a communication system, such as a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system operating in a spatial multiplexing (SM) mode, for use e.g. in a WLAN or HSDPA device, a plurality of information flows are received via a set of receive antennas (A1,..., AnR) by: deriving from at least some, and possibly all of the receive antennas (A1,..., AnR) respective RF signals (r 1,...,r nR), and - producing from the RF signals thus derived a plurality of receive signals, each receive signal to be demodulated (20a, 20b) to recover one of the information flows transmitted. The receive signals are produced as combinations (14, 14a, 14b) of the RF signals (r1,...,rnR) having applied (12, 124a, 124b) thereto relative RF phase shift weights (W).
