PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet for an absorbent article that is the surface sheet for the absorbent article using non-woven fabric comprising short fibers, and in which the fluffing due to the short fibers is suppressed even if the surface is not smoothed by a calender roll, etc.SOLUTION: A surface sheet of the present invention comprises the non-woven fabric formed of short fibers, and a hydrophobic gelled composition capable of maintaining a gel state at 38°C. Also, the surface sheet has a coating area with the gelled composition coated thereon and a non-coating area without the gelled composition coated thereon on the surface of a skin surface side of the surface sheet.
