A method for determining the severity of a mammalian dive response (MDR) triggered during a patient's seizure that includes the following steps: (1) collecting an ictal specimen, the ictal specimen being a saliva or any other secretion from the mouth of the patient when the patient is in a peri-ictal period； (2) analyzing the ictal specimen to measure a level of a specimen marker, the specimen marker being a cellular or non-cellular biological component； and (3) determining the severity of the MDR or other autonomic reflex based on the level of the specimen marker.L'invention concerne un procédé de détermination de la gravité d'un réflexe d'immersion chez les mammifères (MDR) déclenché pendant une crise d'un patient qui comprend les étapes suivantes : (1) la collecte d'un échantillon ictal, l'échantillon ictal étant une salive ou toute autre sécrétion à partir de la bouche du patient lorsque le patient est dans une période péri-ictale ； (2) l'analyse de l'échantillon ictal pour mesurer un niveau d'un marqueur d'échantillon, le marqueur d'échantillon étant un composant biologique cellulaire ou non cellulaire ； et (3) la détermination de la gravité du MDR ou d'un autre réflexe autonome sur la base du niveau du marqueur d'échantillon.
