An herbicidal composition comprising one or more compounds of Formula (I): where R1 and R2 are H or taken together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached form a furane ring R3 and R4 each independently represent H, -OH or –O-(C1-C4) alkyl and R5 is H, (C1-C4) alkyl, -(C1-C2) alkylene-O-glucoside or –COOH and an agriculturally acceptable vehicle. There is also disclosed a method for weed control by application of compounds of Formula I and the use of the composition for controlling weeds.
