An apparatus tor training suturing techniques. The apparatus comprises: (i) asuturing cartridge presentation display with a first receptacle fordemountably engagingtherein a first suturing cartridge and a second receptacle for demountablyengagingtherein a second suturing cartridge, (ii) a microprocessor, a graphical userinterface, andat least one software program for cooperating with the microprocessor fortraining, monitoring, reporting suturing techniques; and (iii) a housing for mountingtherein thesuturing cartridge presentation display, the microprocessor, and the graphicaluserinterface. Each receptacle is associated with a pressure sensor and aplurality of LEDs.The suturing cartridges are fillable with semi-solid, resilient material intowhich suturinginstruments may be inserted and withdrawn. The pressure sensors detectmovementsassociated with manipulation of suturing instruments, while the LEDs provideguidanceto suturing tasks and visual cues relating to acceptable and unacceptablemanipulation ofsuturing instruments.
