The spinal orthosis comprises a plurality of rotatably connecting components (101). The rotatably connecting components can be connected together in rows with various user-settable rotational offsets to form a user-settable support curve along the length of the appliance. In one embodiment, the rotatably connecting components interconnect with the laterally adjacent plates (108) on their inner side (104, 105) and their outer side (106), thereby enhancing the structural integrity of the appliance.
