Substituted perhydro pyrrolopyridines and methods for their use in thetreatment of viraldiseases including hepatitis C viral infections are described herein. Thedisclosure relates to apharmaceutical composition for treating a patient having hepatitis C, saidcompositioncomprising a compound of the formula(See Above Formula)or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein: R1 is optionallysubstitutedarylcarbonyl wherein aryl is optionally substituted phenyl, thienyl orpyridyl； R2 is optionallysubstituted aryl wherein aryl is optionally substituted phenyl or thienyl； andwherein R2 is atC-3； R3 is optionally substituted arylalkyl wherein aryl is optionallysubstituted phenyl,thienyl, pyridyl or pyrazol-4-yl； and； R4 is hydrogen； and one or morepharmaceutically-acceptablecarriers, adjuvants, or vehicles.
