An embodiment of the present invention provides a composition for regulating the expression of TERT, a screening method of a TERT expression modulator, a composition for diagnosing a TERT expression state, a kit for diagnosis, an information providing method for diagnosis, or an information providing method for cancer diagnosis based on the correlation of prospero homeobox protein 1 (PROX1) and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT). More specifically, PROX1 according to an aspect of the present invention is able to regulate the expression of TERT by being bonded to a TERT promoter, particularly a mutant TERT promoter in which a base substitution occurs at -124 or -146 bp and specifically, suppress the expression of TERT in liver cancers derived from non-hepatitis B virus of liver cancers. Accordingly, the present invention has an advantage of being utilized in various medical life fields by including a composition for regulating the expression of TERT, a composition for preventing or treating liver cancers derived from hepatitis B virus, and the like.본 명세서에는 PROX1(prospero homeobox protein 1)과 텔로머라제 역전사효소(TERT； telomerase reverse transcriptase)의 상관관계를 기반으로 하여, TERT의 발현 조절용 조성물, TERT 발현 조절제의 스크리닝 방법, TERT 발현 상태 진단용 조성물, 진단용 키트, 진단을 위한 정보제공 방법 또는 암 진단을 위한 정보제공방법이 개시된다. 구체적으로 일 측면에서 본 발명의 PROX1은 TERT 프로모터, 특히 -124 또는 -146bp 위치에 염기의 치환이 발생한 돌연변이 TERT 프로모터에 결합하여 TERT의 발현을 조절할 수 있고, 간암 중에서도 비-B형 간염 바이러스 유래 간암 내 TERT의 발현을 특이적으로 억제할 수 있다는 특징이 있다. 이에 본 발명은 TERT의 발현 조절용 조성물, B형 간염 바이러스 유래 간암 의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물 등을 포함한 다양한 의생명 분야에서 활용될 수 있다는 이점이 있다.
