PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footrest mechanism, in which a footrest can be easily moved up and down without being opened/closed when a user of a wheelchair gets into/out of the wheelchair to enable the user to easily get in/out from ahead of the wheelchair.SOLUTION: A vertical frame 12 of the footrest 11 of the wheelchair 10 is composed of an outer pipe 18 and an inner pipe 19, and an extendable member 21 is inserted into the inner pipe 19, so that the inner pipe 19 is extendable in the outer pipe 18.
