PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insect pest control agent having an excellent pest control effect on harmful insects such as a mosquito.

SOLUTION: The insect pest control agent contains an ester compound represented by formula (1), a thermoplastic resin having 50 to 100% by weight of a vinyl chloride based resin based on the whole thermoplastic resin, and a plasticizer. The insect pest control agent shows an excellent effect by just placing under the non-heating condition at a habitat and/or a passage of the harmful insects. In formula (1), R1indicates a hydrogen atom or a methyl group R2indicates a methyl group or a group represented by CH=CR21R22(wherein, R21and R22indicate independently a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a chlorine atom) and R3indicates a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a methoxymethyl group.
