A transport wagon is provided for receiving cargo, in particular agriculturalharvestedgoods, such as pressed bales of straw or silage. Such wagons have a loadplatformsupporting thereon the cargo and delimited by longitudinal as well astransverse lateralparts wherein its transport space is accessible in particular when thelongitudinalsidewalls are open. According to the invention, at least one of longitudinalsidewalls isprovided with a support device by means of which the longitudinal sidewall canbemoved from an open position near the ground to a closed position in which atleast anupper layer of the stacked cargo is engaged and laterally secured.
