The absorbent article (1) includes at least one fastening tab (2) positioned along the side edge (6 12a, 12b). In a first position the fastening tab (2) is folded over itself at least once creating at least one first pleat (13) and secured in its folded position by fastening means (17) positioned in the first pleat (13) on only a first side (14) of the fastening tabs (2), and in that in a second position, the fastening tab (2) is arranged to be unfolded at least partly for attachment to the outside and/or the inside of an undergarment (21).
