A precipitated silica comprising porous silica particles, for all pores of 500Å greater than the cumulative surface area (measured by mercury porosimetry) 2 / g of less than 8m, the porous silica particles, the percentage cetyl chloride diameter pyridinium (% CPC) compatibility is about 55 percent. This precipitated silica products, especially since it is well suited for use in dentifrices containing cetylpyridinium chloride, the surface area does not adhere at significant levels in small silica products, antibacterial effect is retained.
