The disclosure provides biomedical devices comprising indicator agents sensitive to the environment of use, methods of using same to enhance adherence to a treatment or usage regimen, and systems for monitoring compliance of use of the biomedical device. The biomedical device may be an intravaginal ring comprised of biocompatible polymeric material having indicator agent incorporated therein capable of producing a detectable change in response to a stimulus within the vaginal environment.Linvention concerne des dispositifs biomédicaux comprenant des indicateurs sensibles à lenvironnement dutilisation, des méthodes dutilisation de ces derniers pour améliorer ladhésion à un traitement ou protocole thérapeutique, et des systèmes permettant de surveiller lobservance de lutilisation du dispositif biomédical. Le dispositif biomédical peut être un anneau intravaginal constitué dun matériau polymère biocompatible comportant un indicateur incorporé apte à produire un changement détectable en réponse à un stimulus au sein de lenvironnement vaginal.
