A device (10) for attaching surgical stapling tissue portions, comprising: a set (12) of the handle； an elongated body (100) extending from the handle assembly； a set (102) of cartridge supported in a distal end of the elongated body, the cartridge assembly including a cartridge 120 staple containing a plurality of surgical staples in an annular array； a set (140) anvil at a distal end of the surgical stapling device, having the anvil assembly a shaft (144) for removably coupling the anvil assembly to the cartridge assembly, and a head (142) mounted pivotably to a distal end of the shaft assembly translatable anvil relative to the cartridge assembly between a first position wherein the anvil assembly is separated from the cartridge assembly, and a second position where the anvil assembly is approximated relative the cartridge assembly to clamp tissue disposed therebetween, the head (142) of the anvil assembly able to transition between a first state where a head surface that makes contact with the tissue is substantially perpendicular to the shaft, and second state where the head surface that makes contact with the tissue is inclined with respect to the shaft； characterized in that said surgical stapling device further comprises: a sleeve (160) anvil including an elongate portion (162) slidably disposed around the shaft (144) of the anvil assembly and an arm (166) extending from the elongate portion, wherein the sleeve anvil able to transition between the first position where the elongated sleeve portion of the anvil engages the head (142) of the anvil assembly to hold the head in the first state, and second position wherein the elongated sleeve portion of the anvil is separated from the head of the anvil assembly to allow the transition of the head to the second state and wherein the arm (166) extends through a channel (176) in the head ( 142) anvil and includes a tab disposed on an opposite side of the anvil head from the elongated portion (162), the flange being
