Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of an anterior deprogrammer for the maxillary arch. Particularly, the invention relates to the development of a diagnostic device which can diagnose and differentiate between occluso-muscular disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders and non-dental problems. The invention also pertains to the development of a method for practicing the use of this developed device to diagnose and differentiate between occluso-muscular disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders and non-dental problems. Diagnostic device for differentiating occluso-muscular disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders and non-dental problems comprising: (a) anterior labial surface with labial notch, for labial frenum relief(b) palatal face is short to allow for accommodation of the tongue space, without trauma to the palatal rugae or gingival tissue (c) incisal face with disoccluding element which allows it to work as a midline point tostop device and(d) intaglio surface with two retentive undercuts on the labially facing surface which enhance the retentive features of the device.
