The present invention relates to the use of Complement-Dependent Cytotoxicity (CDC) and sialylation as biomarkers for predicting responsiveness to treatment with an antibody or derivative thereof mediating complement-activation, in particular an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody such as Rituximab, in a cancer patient, in particular a chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patient.
