A biological fluid collection device including a housing and a cartridge that is removable and acceptable within a portion of the housing is disclosed. The biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure provides a closed system that allows collection of capillary blood from a finger puncture and reduces exposure of blood samples. In one embodiment, the cartridges of the present disclosure also provide fast mixing of blood samples and sample stabilizers. In another embodiment, the cartridges of the present disclosure provide automatic plasma separation of blood samples.
