The implant may comprise a base member, for example, an acetabular shell or an augmenting member, and the base member is configured to engage an augmenting member, a flange cup, a mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment. Any implantable component may have one or more porous surfaces. The porous surface can be textured by protrusions connected to the surface and extending from the surface. The size and concentration of the protrusions may be varied to accommodate different implant and patient ' s body parts depending on the particular application.
