The application discloses a method for controlling operation of anagricultural machine (10), comprisingproviding a portable device (1), the portable device (1) comprising an inputdevice (2), aprocessing unit (3), a storage unit (4), an output device (5), and atransceiver device (6) configuredfor wireless data transmission, receiving a voice control command over amicrophone device of theinput device (2) of the portable device (1), determining command text datafrom the voice controlcommand by processing the voice control command by a speech recognitionapplication runningon the processing unit (3) of the portable device (1), providing machinecontrol signals assigned toa machine control function in a control device of an agricultural machine (10)located remotelyfrom the portable device (1), and controlling the operation of theagricultural machine (10) accordingto the machine control signals.
