An oil-in-water formulation for the inhibition of the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, characterized by improved skin protective properties which, in combination, consist of: (1) a protective composition of the skin selected from the group consisting of allantoin, aluminum hydroxide gel, calamine, cocoa butter, cod liver oil, colloidal oatmeal, hardened fat, kaolin, mineral oil, petroleum jelly, topical starch, white petrolatum, zinc acetate, zinc carbonate, zinc oxide, and mixture thereof, provided in an effective protective skin concentration; (2) a silicone-based skin protective composition containing at least one silicone-containing excipient provided in a concentration effective to protect the skin; (3) a humectant excipient, selected from the group consisting of glycerin, anhydrous lanolin and combinations thereof, in the range of 0.5 to 15.0% w / w; (4) a non-ionic emulsifier selected from the group consisting of cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-12, ceteareth-20 and mixture thereof, in the range of 0.5 to 15.0% w / w; (5) a chelating compound in the range of 0.1 to 0.01% w / w; (6) a film-forming emollient in the range of 1.0 to 10.0% w / w; and (7) water; where contact with the skin results in the formation in situ of a protective barrier layer of the skin effective in inhibiting the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.Una formulación aceite en agua para la inhibición de la transmisión de enfermedades de transmisión sexual, caracterizada por propiedades protectoras de la piel mejoradas que, en combinación, consisten de: (1) una composición protectora de la piel seleccionada del grupo que consiste de alantoína, gel de hidróxido alumínico, calamina, manteca de cacao, aceite de hígado de bacalao, harina de avena coloidal, grasa endurecida, caolín, aceite mineral, vaselina, almidón tópico, petrolato blanco, acetato de zinc, carbonato de zinc, óxido de zinc, y mezcla de estos, proporcionados en una concentración eficaz protectora de la piel; (2
