The present invention relates to a composition of recombinant alpha-1 antitrypsin (hereinafter referred to as 'AAT'). The recombinant AAT of the present invention is more readily purified than other forms of AAT and has increased anti-inflammatory and anti-immunological activity compared to natural AAT or other commercial AAT preparations.
