The MRI apparatus includes a static magnetic field generating part to generate a static magnetic field in a bore, a main coil (gradient magnetic field coil) to apply a gradient magnetic field to a specimen P disposed in the static magnetic field, a high frequency coil to receive magnetic resonance signals from the specimen when thegradient magnetic field is applied, and a shimming structure part to regulate the uniformity of the static magnetic field. The shimming structure part is disposed between the main coil and a shield coil in the gradient magnetic field coil, and it is provided with a first iron shim disposed at a center in the center axis direction of the static magnetic field generating part, and second iron shimsdisposed at center axis direction end parts of the static magnetic field generating part.
