METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CHARACTER OF MONOCOTYLEDON BY MODIFICATION AND/OR EXCESSIVE EXPRESSION OF CYTOCHROME P450 MONOOXYGENASE GENE INVOLVED IN BIOSYNTHESIS OF BRASSINOSTEROID AND MONOCOTYLEDON MODIFIED BY USING THE SAME GENE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the character such as morphology of a plant and preparing a plant body having the desired morphology in the field in consideration of the present situation that there exists no technique for creating a plant having the desired morphology [e.g. a short culm (semi-dwarfness) or an upright habit] and to provide the plant, seeds thereof and progenies and plant cells, etc., created by the method. SOLUTION: A gene involved in a synthesis system for brassinosteroids or its homologous gene is modified and/or excessively expressed or the resultant modified plant is screened. Thereby, a method for controlling the character such as the morphology of the plant and creating the plant having the desired morphology without producing the undesired character such as ultra dwarfness is provided. The plant, seeds thereof and progenies and plant cells, etc., created by the method are provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
