The invention relates to a peptide, or derivative thereof, according to the formula X 1 X 2 ,-X 3 - Thr-X 4 -Lys-X 5 -Arg-X 6 . (SEQ ID No. 1), wherein: X 1 is Ala or Gly X 2 is Tyr or Phe X 3 , X 4 and X 5 are independently selected from the group comprising Met, Ile, Leu and Val; and X 6 is selected from the group comprising Asp, Gln; Glu and Asn; for use in promoting accelerated wound healing with reduced scarring. The invention also relates to a DNA molecule encoding the peptide according to SEQ ID NO:1 for use in promoting accelerated wound healing with reduced scarring, said DNA molecule being capable of being transcribed to lead to expression of the peptide.
