A medical device and method for facilitating selection of shape and / or size of an annuloplasty implant for a patient. The device includes a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, and an elongate member disposed at least partially within the catheter and having an operator end and a measurement end. The measurement end is relatively extendable from the distal end of the catheter for juxtaposition with at least one abutment of the heart valve.
