The invention relates to an apparatus (10) for perfusing an organ or tissue (20) comprising a coolant container (50); a compartment (30) in a heat exchange arrangement with the coolant container for holding the organ or tissue; a perfusate circulation conduit (72) configured to remove perfusate from the compartment (30) and return the optionally treated perfusate to the compartment (30), the conduit comprising at least two tubes configured to be connected to separate blood vessels of an organ or tissue in the compartment by way of cannulae; and a separately actuable valve (122, 132, 127,137) and at least one member selected from the group consisting of a flow sensor (126, 136) and a pressure sensor (138) operatively associated with each of the two tubes.
