PURPOSE: An external use skin composition containing an Eleutherococcus koreanum Nakai extract is provided to ensure anti-inflammatory and skin whitening effects without skin irritation. CONSTITUTION: An external use skin composition contains an Eleutherococcus koreanum Nakai callus extract or an adventitious root extract as an active ingredient. The callus extract is prepared by UVA irradiation, shikimic acid treatment, or ultrasonic wave irradiation. The adventitious root extract is prepared by hot water extraction of adventitious roots induced from a callus of adult plants or seeds of Eleutherococcus koreanum Nakai.
