A prosthesis which does not interfere with the normal function of the pyloric sphincter when it is implanted in the gastrointestinal tract is disclosed. In some cases, the prosthesis is implanted as part of or after sleeve gastrectomy. The prosthesis includes a stent having an outer surface and a polymer cover that completely covers the outer surface of the stent.
